North Star - Al Landzberg

"North Star" is a celebration of sailing. Early on, the Northeast Furnished masts and the timber needed to build the sailing ships that were so important to the development of. our nation. The Hudson river was a critical waterway, but in our haste to grwo we exploited our natural resources and didn’t recognize their vulnerability to human and industrial pollution. The birth of the environmental movement on these shores and the crearwater, the brainchild of Peet Seeger, represent an incredible story of human resilience. To the clearwater, and its symbolism for the recovery and preservation of the hudson I dedicate the sculpture, “North Star”.
